How It Works
RIO Sentry captures the operating data such as temperature, voltage, pressure, and fuel levels from crucial industrial equipment controllers. By plugging into the existing the CAN-bus or Modbus connection, RIO Sentry gathers data directly from the controller, then makes this data available via secure web interface, automatically alerts the requisite personnel when defined events occur, and maintains detailed records and reports about equipment operation.
RIO Sentry has a very simple configuration that requires few wires and little installation time. It consists of the following components:
- The RIO Sentry data capture device connects to the equipment’s controller and collects performance data.
- The data capture device also connects via serial bus (RS-485) to a local computer, which securely transmits data to a high-availability data center using the wireless modem, satellite modem, packet radio, phone line, or Internet.
- The data center, active 24 hours a day, publishes the data via a secure web interface. It also monitors the incoming data so that when your pre-defined thresholds are crossed (such as low pressure, high temperature, etc.), the data center notifies the appropriate personnel via email, phone, pager, or any other notification method you choose. If no one responds to critical alerts, RIO Sentry contacts the additional responsible parties.
- You can view detailed web-based data and reports over a secure web page or mobile phone from anywhere with web access.
With RIO Sentry, you can…
- Monitor operation of generators, compressors, engines, and other critical industrial equipment
- Manage up to 16 pieces of equipment for each RIO Sentry data capture device
- Monitor 70 parameters simultaneously, such as voltage, amperage, generator speed & frequency, engine speed and frequency, remaining service hours, engine oil pressure, engine oil temperature, engine coolant temperature, and battery voltage. Most other systems monitor provide only 7-8 data channels
- Monitor multiple sites remotely in a centralized location, from anywhere in the world that has cellular, Internet, radio, or phone access. You can check customized status and history screens (including event time stamps) at any time – in text or in graph form – on a variety of platforms
The system helps you…
- Analyze, interpret, and understand data – RIO Sentry doesn’t just monitor parameters. Its algorithms review the data to interpret and understand it
- Predict failures by monitoring for dropping oil pressure, rising temperature, and other warning signs.
- More accurately diagnose problems – use historical performance information to get a detailed picture of equipment health when parameter thresholds are crossed
- Supervise remote equipment or equipment that’s hard to monitor
- Enhance the effectiveness of existing monitoring systems
- Reliably access your data 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, using on our high-availability data center
- Rest assured that our persistent messaging system will alert the right people when issues occur
- Generate reports in many different forms such as spreadsheets, PDFs, and databases. Produce both encrypted and unencrypted formats
- Customize the system to meet your individual needs. Set up your own thresholds for parameter monitoring and configure a ‘contact chain’ to allow escalating contact when an issue is not immediately addressed
